3 Fish Culture in the 21st century, a practical discussion. Christine McWilliams Biosecurity can be defined as the cumulative management steps taken to 1) reduce the risk of pathogen entry, 2) reduce the risk of pathogen spread throughout a facility and to the downstream environment, and 3) reduce conditions within a facility which can increase susceptibility to infection and disease. The goal of this presentation is to review fish culture management practices which contribute to improved biosecurity and are recommended for implementation at community based public enhancement hatcheries in BC.
